The match-ups have been decided for the Special Single Match and Special Iron Man Match at the Coroblock presents QUINTET FIGHT NIGHT 5 in TOKYO on Tuesday, October 27, at Korakuen Hall.

First, the Special Single Match between Haitham Rida and Igor "Fatninja" Tanabe will be held. The two competed before in the QUINTET FN2 tournament match on February 3, 2019. At that time, the match ended disappointingly, since both were disqualified by given three shidos. This time, they will be fighting in an eight-minute single match, and the fight is expected to be the one and only exciting ultimate showdown that can be seen in the current Japanese heavyweight Jiu-Jitsu world. Will they be able to settle things once and for all this time?

New single match rules were tested last time at the exhibition match in the QUINTET in Akita Special Iron Man Match. New rules will be tested again this time, and Sakuraba and Sugiura will compete in the Greco-Roman style. Only upper body grappling will be allowed, and leglocks will be prohibited. The current GHC champion duo Sakuraba and NOAH's Sugiura will try out these experimental rules. Sugiura, who has had numerous successful runs in the Greco-Roman style in wrestling in the past, will be the perfect opponent for Sakuraba. Let's expect and look forward to seeing a new experimental grappling style battle without leglocks.

Message from Kazushi Sakuraba
I've noticed that many matches end with leglocks in recent grappling tournaments worldwide, and I hear and talk a lot about them too, so I wanted to try a rule that prohibits leglocks. Sugiura is from the Greco-Roman style world, so he would be the best opponent to try this out. Leglocks are not allowed, but you can put your legs around the opponent. It focuses more on how you can take the upper body joints rather than pursuing further on leglocking. I do a lot of jumping guard passes, so I will be able to do them without worrying about leglocks. I want to try various techniques, such as doing saddle locks and think about how I can attack the opponent's upper body from there. It's like doing it in the No Gi style in Judo. I hope I will be able to create an exciting and tense atmosphere with my sparring, like winning an ippon.

Now that some of the new match-ups are decided, we have to wait for the remaining players to be selected. Who else will also appear in the October 27 tournament? We're going to have to wait and see.
