FN5

Part of the QUINTET rules will be revised and implemented from the Coroblock presents QUINTET FN5 on October 27th. Changes will affect the position after receiving a shido when restarting a match.

Up until now, fighters could choose from three positions when restarting after receiving a shido: a parterre position in wrestling, standing at a right angle to the opponent's back, or a college style. However, the two parterre positions in wrestling (the back position and side position) will be removed from the rules. The existing side back position and knee-on-belly positions will be added to encourage faster paced matches and ippon wins.

In the knee-on-belly position, the fighter can either get down or draw their knees up on the opposite side of the belly. They need to put their hands up or place them on the chest or waist. The receiver crosses his hands in front of his chest. (see reference photos)

The side back position has slightly changed as well. One hand is to be wrapped around the waist and belly, and the other hand is to be put on the receiver's elbow while in the crawl position. The knee closer to the body is to be drawn up close to the receiver's knee, and the other leg is to be planted with the sole of the foot on the ground. (see reference photos)

Jumping to closed guard was banned until now, but a jumping front choke (guillotine choke) will be allowed as a closed guard. However, grabbing only the back of the head in a closed guard will continue to be prohibited. (see reference photos)
